INSTRUCTIONS:
for Manta Senior Explorer (Sr) - the Manta Junior Primary (Jr) -
Manta Mini
We would like to discuss a few of the features to make you more
familiar with this product.
The MantaReel is constructed of anodized aluminum,
stainless steel and UHMW plastic. While these materials are all
highly corrosive resistant, we recommend to prolong the life of
your reel, rinse it with fresh water after every dive. Also
place a drop of oil or WD40 on the trigger slot (Sr.& Jr)
reels.
The Wave Washer Tension Control: The purpose of the wave washer
is to keep the line on your reel from free-spooling or
"birdsnesting". The wave washer tension control is set
at the factory with a medium amount of tension. If you would
like to alter the amount of tension, follow these instructions
carefully. Tools needed are a 9/16 inch socket wrench (Field
Adjustment). A bench vise and a 9/16 socket wrench are
preferred. NOTE: Tension control does not usually require
adjustment and should not be adjusted until after you have used
the reel. Water acts as a lubricant on tension control.
Step1: To adjust the amount of tension, place
head on spool bolt in bench vise or hold securely with box
wrench. With bolt head secure loosen nylon lock nut. When nut is
loose rotate frame in small increments (1/6 turn) clockwise to
increase tension, counter/clockwise to decrease. You may test
tension by holding frame stationary and rotating spool.
Step2: After making adjustment, retighten
nylon lock nut securely while holding bolt head stationary.
NOTE: It is extremely important when tightening nylon lock nut
that the bolt head does not move.
With adjustment complete wind your reel for 30-40 cranks to make
sure it functions properly. If tension does not hold repeat step
1 & 2.
